From our humble beginnings in 2009, the second annual installation of Geekend is shaping up to be an experience of a lifetime. Much has occurred since Geekend last November and the crew has been working diligently to ensure that this year will be totally geeky, uber-exciting, and the most rewarding weekend possible.

Part of the intrigue in putting on a large-scale interactive conference is that (much like how Geekend itself has grown and matured over this last year) so have technology, trends, and global interactivity. Certain topics and issues that will be discussed and debated at Geekend may not have even been on the horizon a mere one year ago. Change sprouts new innovative ideas and ways of thinking. This truly is a wonderful time to be a geek.

As an advocate for technology and media of all forms, this is an exciting time to live in. Not only can we attend an information-filled conference while networking with new and old friends, but we can also share this newfound knowledge and camaraderie with the click of a button. It is out of collaboration that creativity flourishes and what better way to promote ingenuity than by spending time with hundreds of the geekiest people this world has to offer?

The world needs geeks, this we know for sure. Geeks are responsible for enhancing our quality of life, advancing technology, and progressing social responsibility. Some of the dreariest of times are when society needs geeks the most. The Geekend conference may not be ‘til November, but Geekend really begins right now. Geekend starts with you Tweeting, blogging, Facebooking, texting, calling, laughing, yelling, dancing, T-shirting, and any other “-ing” you can think of. If it weren’t for you, friends and fans of Geekend, the annual geek gathering that so many look forward to, would not be possible. It is because of your forward thinking mindset and inventive attitude that we are able to share such interesting speakers, panels, friendships, and works of art.

As Geekend quickly approaches, keep on spreading the love and inviting anyone you know in your geeky circle of friends, fans, followers, or connections. Thank you for all your support thus far. Stay tuned, for this is only the beginning of what we have in store. Geekend2010 is sure to blow you away.
