Scott Stratten, UnMarketing founder, speaker, lover of all things Canadian
Close your eyes and count to 10. Now open. Scott Stratten has just Tweeted multiple times.
Scott is recognized across the magical online world as a social media guru and viral marketing genius. His videos have garnered over 65 million views online. He has been named a top ranked influencer on Twitter with close to 60,000 fans following his daily shenanigans. More importantly, though, Scott is a good old-fashioned geek at heart. He has been connected online since the early ‘90s when he would type his Angelfire URL into a Netscape browser. Secretly he misses the days spent chatting over ICQ and still gets a warm, fuzzy, feeling inside upon seeing a current AOL email address.
Scott is currently president of UnMarketing, a concept he developed out of his anger for hypocritical marketers continuing to market in ways which they hated being marketed to (say that five times fast). His un-marketing concept focuses on engagement with consumers and positioning yourself as a trusted choice for your target audience. Scott’s new book UnMarketing: Stop Marketing. Start Engaging is set to hit stores fall of 2010, and word on the street is he may put out a PDF copy as a torrent download, just to keep it real in the geek world. He travels North America, speaking and consulting at various events in order to spread his ideas and wealth of knowledge with geeks everywhere.
Scott’s Geekend2010 keynote will examine the ways marketing and customer service have evolved over the past few years, redefining the landscape for the way we do business. His session will investigate what is currently happening within online engagement. and what the future holds for this modern ideology. Be sure to check out Scott’s website and follow him on Twitter. Just don’t make fun of his love for the Toronto Maple Leafs (We all have some flaws).
